Women, Data & The Future – Knowle West Media Centre

Women, Data & The Future is a collaboration between Knowle West Media Centre and the research programme Productive Margins: Regulating for Engagement, University of Bristol and is funded by the ESRC.

Women, Data & The Future explores women’s relationships with, and experiences of, data and includes artwork made in collaboration with the young women by artists Stefanie Posavec, Erica Jewell, Eliza Lomas, Amak Mahmoodian, Charlotte Biszewski and Lizzie Philps. I showed the women how to become confident using recording equipment and taught them interview techniques. They used recorders to capture each others’ reflections on stalking, Instagram ‘terms & conditions’ and data privacy.

For my part in the project, I showed the two groups of women how to become confident using recording equipment and taught interview techniques. They used recorders to capture each others’ reflections on stalking, Instagram ‘terms & conditions’ and data privacy.

The final podcast I produced was a sonic snapshot of Women, Data & The Future led entirely by the participant’s voices and interviews, recorded during the workshops.
