In the central region of Vietnam, which was most heavily bombed during the 20 year war, the shrapnel can now be bought by the kilo. Local craftsmen are buying it, melting it down and reshaping it into gongs, bowls and Sky Drums: musical instruments with deeply meditative transcendental tones.
Khoa Pham, the creator of Sky Drums, tells his own very touching personal story which led him to make these drums ‘which fell from the sky’.
